Located on the left bank of the Guadalquivir river estuary, Sanlúcar de Barrameda is one of the most enchanting cities in Andalusía.
Handed to Alonso Pérez de Guzmán "El Bueno" after the Reconquest, Sanlúcar lived its period of greatest splendour after of Discovery of America when Sanlúcar port became one of the most important in the kingdom, begin the departure point for sailors such as Magellan, Elcano an Columbus on his third voyage.

The historically important Cádiz town of Sanlúcar de Barrameda, whose port served as departure point for countless seafarers setting sail to America, is located right at the mouth of the Guadalquivir river estuary, next to the extraordinary Doñana National Park. Alongside its great artisan tradition linked to the carpentry and a beautiful old town packed full of the churches, castles and palaces.

Thanks to its natural harbour, Sanlúcar de Barrameda has been a meeting point to many cultures throughout the centuries. This has meant that, today, we enjoy a rich heritage dating mainly from the New World trading period in the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries.
