Located in the centre of the "Costa de la Luz", Chipiona is one of the busiest tourist areas in Andalusia thanks to its excellent natural setting with out standing maravellous beaches. Neighbouring Sanlúcar de Barrameda and Rota, Chipiona is found in the Cádiz county of "Bajo Guadalquivir". Its origin date back to the Roman city of Caepionis Turris, name which comes from the so-called Caepionis Tower, an ancient lighthouse built on the Guadalquivir river estuary to warm boats about the "Piedra de Salmedina" reef, the root cause of so many sea wrecks.
