Halfway between the "Bajo Guadalquivir" and Bay of Cádiz areas, Rota can boast it has one of the most beautiful images in the south of Spain. Rota reflects the traditional character and atmosphere of a typical Andalusian fisherman´s town. The town´s great treasure lies in it´s beaches and historical centre. The historical quarter of Rota was declared a Historical Ensemble in the year 2003 and is a true delight with it´s typical whitewashed Andalusian houses, narrow streets and floral decorations well as the medieval zone that once skirted the ancient walls, vestiges of which still remain.
